As Honda has leaned more on turbocharged engines in recent years, Spoon's view is that a turbo engine is really just a naturally-aspirated engine with exceptional intake efficiency. Years of NA tuning experience taught Spoon that feeding as much air as possible into the combustion chamber with as little resistance as possible is the key to efficient power gains, and that thinking led to this throttle body.
Enlarging the butterfly valve diameter increases flow area and intake air volume, lifting output. Improving the surface finish inside the body also reduces flow resistance, raising intake air velocity and sharpening throttle response. Because Honda's intake layout is excellent even on the turbo cars, this part is based on the stock throttle body, so it bolts straight on with zero fabrication needed.
Please note: throttle inlet diameter is increased to 46.5mm (stock: 44.0mm, +11.7% area) and the butterfly diameter to 41.0mm (stock: 38.5mm, +13.4% area).
