Torque GT

In 2001 Torque GT was formed with a clear purpose, to offer the best Japanese Import Sports Cars to the UK market. Nearly a quarter of a century later and we are still going from strength to strength.

Based in Devon UK. We offer vehicles from our Showroom and the world renowned Personal Import Service. We have a bodyshop and fully equipped mechanical workshop on site as well as a professional detailing bay.

We also supply Japanese Performance Car Parts. We are distributors for brands such as Spoon Sports, Dixcel, Fujitsubo, Hybrid Racing and Enkei.

Timeline

  • 2001 - Where It All Began

    With a passion for JDM cars and a dream to make them more accessible in the UK, Tristan founded Torque GT and imported his first car. A 500 bhp R32 GTR 😀 (sadly no pics)

  • 2002 - Taking Things Online

    We built our first website, making it easier for enthusiasts to browse and buy their dream imports. Tristan invited his friend Mike to become a partner in the business.

  • 2004 - A Space of Our Own

    As demand grew, we moved into a brand-new showroom—our first real home for showcasing some of the best JDM cars around.

  • 2007 - Growing the Team

    What started as a one-man mission quickly grew into a dedicated team of four, each bringing their own expertise and enthusiasm to the business.

  • 2008 - Tough Times, Stronger Resolve

    The global financial crisis hit hard, but our belief in what we do kept us pushing forward. The Japanese Yen halves in value compared to the Pound and importing from Japan becomes much much harder.

  • 2010 - A Digital Upgrade

    A new website helped us improve the buying experience and better connect with our customers. We introduced our Personal Import Service (PIS), giving customers the ability to source their dream cars directly from Japan.

  • 2013 - Keeping Up with the Times

    We have a rebrand and another new website. Interest in classic JDM vehicles is picking up pace again in the UK and we look to expand to meet demand.

  • 2014 - A Bigger and Better Home

    As we scale up our operations we move to a new purpose built site on the edge of Dartmoor. Infamous for the terrible roads you had to navigate to get there!

  • 2015 - Strength in Numbers

    Our team expanded to seven employees, giving us more hands on deck to provide the best service possible. We are importing 250 units a year from Japan.

  • 2016 - More Than Just Cars

    We officially launched our parts store, supplying high-quality performance and OEM parts to complement our vehicles.

  • 2018 - Another Digital Leap

    As we move on further with our expansion into Parts we relaunch the website onto a new platform. We add in new brands including Hybrid Racing, Dixcel and Enkei

  • 2019 - Growing the Family

    With 10 employees, we continued to expand, fine-tuning our services to better serve JDM enthusiasts.

  • 2020 - Bringing Bodywork In-House

    We launched our in-house bodyshop, allowing us to offer professional paintwork, restorations, and customisation services.

  • 2022 - Bigger, Stronger, Better

    We moved to a brand-new site, setting the stage for even bigger things ahead.
    Our team grew to 18 employees across different areas of the business, allowing us to expand our offerings further.

  • 2025 - A New Digital Era

    With technology evolving, we launched our most advanced website yet, ensuring an even better experience for our customers.
