The Spoon Sports Engine Complete is built entirely from brand new genuine Honda parts. Before assembly, every metal burr is removed from the cylinder block and head to avoid stress concentration and to stop metal debris from later working loose inside the engine.
The piston, piston pin and every moving part of the connecting rod are individually weighed and balanced to within 0.02g per cylinder. On the K20C the moving parts weigh around 1,100g in total, so a 0.02g tolerance means holding the difference between cylinders to just 0.002% - genuine Honda Type R engines are built to a 0.2% tolerance, so Spoon is working to 100 times that precision. Balancing the moving parts this tightly reduces minute vibration and lets the engine spin up smoothly; the effect won't show on a power curve, but it's there in how the engine feels.
Clearance management matters just as much. A modern engine combines aluminium and steel to balance strength with weight, and because the two materials expand at different rates with temperature, running clearances shift as things warm up. Spoon assembles every engine in a temperature-controlled clean room, keeping component temperature consistent year-round so clearances can be set with real precision. The result is built by skilled engine builders, in a controlled environment, from precision components - the genuine article, done properly.
