Side Gusset Plate The body rigidity of the FD2 Civic Type R is very high. However, as a mass-produced car, it is inevitable to create parts with low rigidity in accordance with the collision safety standards. In particular, the rigidity of the joint between the interior monocoque and the engine room is insufficient, and although the interior feels highly rigid, under extreme conditions such as circuit driving, the engine shake and unpleasant suspension movement cannot be suppressed, making it feel like the rigidity is insufficient. Therefore, Spoon developed a gusset plate that reinforces the door mounting parts and wheelhouses with a surface. By installing it, it achieves a higher level of rigidity and also contributes to the accurate movement of the suspension.
