Spoon Sports Low Temp Thermostat, for Honda Civic Type R FK2 / FK8 / FL5

The Spoon Sports low temperature thermostat starts opening at 68C and is fully open at 81C, sooner than the genuine Honda part, which starts opening at 78C and is fully open at 90C.

Spoon notes that the engine makes its most efficient power at 70 to 80C, and above that power drops as the ECU adds fuel and retards ignition to prevent knock.

Easy and straightforward to fit along as you’ve got the original arch liner clips as it screws into them. If the liner clips it screws into have broken like mine was, you can get some square Toyota arch liner clips on eBay that fit.
