We installed the N1 muffler kit, in the Thunderhill 25 Hours race in which we participated with the FK8 in 2021. If the volume is too loud, especially in a long race, the driver will feel tired and lose concentration. However, if the sound is too quiet, it will be difficult to concentrate on driving because it will lack the sense of exhilaration.

Our product, the N1 muffler, has sufficient specifications, so we actually verified at the race site how the sound affects the driver in a long race.After the race, the drivers gave us high praise, such as the moderate volume makes it less tiring, the sound quality is good, and it is comfortable to drive.This N1 muffler kit for the FL5 was developed by making use of the experience gained there.

The pipe diameter and silencer position were laid out based on flow bench simulation data, and were optimized through repeated testing on the actual vehicle. Anticipating boost up, matching with upgraded turbos, and use in races, the front and main pipe diameters were set to φ70, and the tail section adopted a φ145 bullet-shaped silencer with a φ80 end pipe, following the popular dual-pipe style of the FK8.

On the other hand, when the exhaust sound is too modest, it may lack the ability to keep the adrenaline going and cause the drive to lose focus. In terms of spec, our N1 Muffler is a proven product. Running the product in a long-distance race allows us to gather data to understand how the sound affects the drivers. Feedback from our drivers were that the exhaust note helped them to concentrate throughout the race, but the sound was not excessive to cause any extra fatigue.

The N1 Muffler Kit for the FL5 was developed utilizing all the data and experience we were able to obtain from such real driving mileage. The initial layout of the system like the pipe diameter and silencer placement were determined from simulation data acquired on a flow bench. The development was finalized after repeated testing on an actual car.
