SPOON SPORTS S-TAI Aero Pack Now Available for the FL5 Civic Type R
As the official UK distributor for Spoon Sports, we are pleased to announce the release of the all new S-TAI Rear Bumper for the 11th generation Honda Civic Type R FL5.
Like the rest of the S-TAI range, the rear bumper was developed directly from Spoon Sports’ racing programme, drawing on the results of extensive on track testing combined with advanced CFD analysis. Every aspect of the design is based on data and real world performance, refined through repeated testing on the Spoon Super Taikyu race car.
The rear bumper adopts a full bumper replacement design and is constructed from FRP. This allows Spoon to optimise both shape and airflow without compromise. The central grille area is designed to reduce the parachute effect, while the grilles positioned on both sides efficiently release pressure from within the wheel housings. This pressure differential contributes directly to increased downforce.
When combined with the diffuser’s underbody flow control, the result is a significant improvement in overall aerodynamic efficiency and rear end stability.
S-TAI Side Skirts and Underbody Airflow Control
Rather than being a purely visual addition, the S-TAI Side Skirts for the Civic FL5 play a crucial supporting role within the overall aero concept for the Spoon Sports FL5 S-TAI Aero Package
By controlling the airflow around the front wheel housings, it reduces the amount of air that hits the rear tires directly, thereby reducing drag.
When combined with the S-TAI front and rear bumpers, the side skirts help stabilise airflow from front to rear, ensuring that the diffuser can operate more effectively. The result is improved aerodynamic balance, with greater stability at speed and more predictable behaviour during high load driving such as circuit use.
