Spoon N1 Exhaust Kit - Civic FL1

We started developing a muffler for the 11th generation CIVIC with the goal of improving power performance and creating a pleasant sound, while also obtaining JQR certification.

What is required of a muffler is sufficient exhaust flow and sound deadening performance. To ensure sufficient exhaust flow, the diameter must be made thicker, and the bends and resistance reduced. And high sound deadening performance can be obtained by increasing exhaust resistance and reducing sound energy by installing multiple silencers or reducing the diameter. In order to meet the conflicting demands of improving power output and ensuring sound deadening performance, we examined the pipe diameter, silencer shape and placement on a flow bench, tested many prototypes, and finally completed a muffler kit that we were satisfied with.

The tail part is the standard SPOON SPORTS "N1 silencer" with two outlets like the standard. It comes with a bumper garnish that allows the muffler to naturally blend in with the body of the car.

This kit replaces the front pipe and main muffler after the catalyst, and is JQR certified while ensuring sufficient exhaust flow rate, with an eye toward increasing boost and upgrading to a high-flow turbocharger.

What we had in mind when we started developing this 11th generation CIVIC muffler was (of course) improved power performance and a nice(r) sound along with the JQR certification. Any muffler needs to secure a sufficient exhaust flow and low noise levels. Bigger diameter to increase the exhaust flow rate, less curves for less resistance. Installing multiple silencers along with reducing the diameter also helps reducing that sound energy.

As conflicting as it sounds, we think we managed to find the balance between improving the output and reducing the sound. After examining the pipe diameter and silencer shape, running multiple tests with various prototypes we finally made an all-around satisfying product.
