Spoon has been developing S2000 aero parts since 2007, and has demonstrated excellent performance in Super Taikyu races and other events. In pursuit of even better aerodynamics, they have released new front and rear bumpers for the S2000. They were put into actual competition last year, and although they have a simple design, they have performance that surpasses the previous model, reducing air resistance while controlling the air flowing under the body to obtain downforce.
This aerodynamic design allows the engine power to be used to the fullest, and allows the car to withstand lateral G-forces without losing speed even in corners, which is also beneficial for fuel economy. The development used cutting-edge CFD analysis to review the way air flows from the front end of the bumper to the engine hood, and reduce air resistance by making the shape smoother.
In addition, both ends of the bumper are inflated more than the original, and the lower parts are hollowed out, creating the same effect as installing canards, generating downforce. In addition, the air flow is used to create the effect of sucking out the air inside the wheel arch. The above effects were confirmed by fluid analysis.
