Prior to its existence we all thought the days of exciting road going rally cars had gone. Fortunately Toyota came along and made this future classic. To go rallying with Gazoo Racing, they needed a road car that shared its DNA with the WRC machine, so they made one. What came out the other side was arguably the most serious hot hatch Toyota has ever put its name to.

The recipe is simple on paper and extraordinary in practice. A 1.6 litre three cylinder turbo making 257bhp, a six speed manual gearbox and a torque vectoring four wheel drive system lifted straight from motorsport development. It is light, it is stiff and it does 0 to 62 in 5.4 seconds. More importantly it feels like nothing else in its class to drive, which is exactly the point.

The Circuit Edition sits at the top of the GR Yaris range, bringing the full suite of tech alongside the performance hardware that makes this car what it is.

This particular car is about as clean as a GR Yaris gets. Supplied new by Torque GT, it has covered just 271 miles from new and has never left our ownership. It has been ceramic coated, so the Scarlet Flare Red paint is protected from day one.

The Circuit Pack takes the already serious GR Yaris hardware and sharpens it further. Front and rear Torsen limited slip differentials, circuit tuned suspension, 18 inch forged BBS alloy wheels and red GR branded brake calipers. It is the specification you want if you plan to use the car the way it was intended.

Package arrived promptly and the new B pipe was well protected in bubble wrap inside the factory spoon packaging. The first thing i noticed was the quality of the welds, then the serialised Spoon plaque, and the genuine honda gasket and spring bolt kit which is included. Fitment was straight forward with the right tools, and the spoon piece aligned perfectly with the standard cat and Spoon N1 backbox. The noise i would describe as OEM++. No drone at motorway speeds but in the vtec band it has that raspy race note. Perfect for around town but still fun in the higher rev range when you want to hear your Honda scream.

I rate it 5/5 and would recommend as a replacement for those sadly corroding factory B pipes.
