Launched in 1998 and produced for only a year, the Lancer Evo V took the motorsport mantle, at least in terms of the WRC. A new ruling allowing a bigger body gave Mitsubishi the opportunity to extend the IV’s platform, increasing brake and wheel size, adding 10mm to its track etc…

So here’s the first time we see flared arches and much more aggressive styling compared to previous Evos, taking it further from the base model Lancer and as a precursor to the later VI which was so incredibly successful.

Evo V's are increasingly hard to find... This Pyrenees Black Pearl example is one of 668 produced - A rare find! Still reading in kilometres, it has covered 111,064km (69,011 miles). Imported in 2019, it came in with absolutely zero signs of corrosion. To preserve it for UK roads, it has had the underside stripped, painted, bushings replaced and bolts re plated. The car was also resprayed when it came into the UK, all completed to a very high standard.

The engine has been looked over and mapped by Norris designs and is running 350bhp. Other features include a Fujitsubo exhaust system. It also comes with the original service book and manual from its life in Japan.

This is a cherished example that would make a rare addition to any collection.
