As with many aftermarket part manufacturers, Tomei was born out of competitive motor sport and has since gone on to create some of the most sought-after JDM parts on the market. With a sharp focus on innovative product design, enhanced performance and reasonable cost, Tomei represents some of the best aftermarket parts that money can buy.

Since the horizontally opposed engine has an explosion interval of 180°, there are moments when none of the cylinders are camlifted. Therefore, if a high cam with a large lift is installed, the belt will vibrate violently and in the worst case, frame skipping may occur and the valve and piston may interfere with each other.

The genuine engine is also equipped with a belt guide, but since it is made of sheet metal processed from a plate material, there is a problem with strength and the moment the guide deforms without being able to hold down the belt, frame skipping occurs.

Tomei products are manufactured by machined aluminium to ensure strength and by extending the guide part, the amount of belt wrapping is secure, preventing fluttering of the belt due to sudden torque fluctuations and surface treatment. The hard alumite prevents the guide from wearing due to the back contact of the belt.

Package arrived promptly and the new B pipe was well protected in bubble wrap inside the factory spoon packaging. The first thing i noticed was the quality of the welds, then the serialised Spoon plaque, and the genuine honda gasket and spring bolt kit which is included. Fitment was straight forward with the right tools, and the spoon piece aligned perfectly with the standard cat and Spoon N1 backbox. The noise i would describe as OEM++. No drone at motorway speeds but in the vtec band it has that raspy race note. Perfect for around town but still fun in the higher rev range when you want to hear your Honda scream.

I rate it 5/5 and would recommend as a replacement for those sadly corroding factory B pipes.

Spoon brake calipers for my EK9

Always wanted to do this modification and now I got the chance as I got some discount. Fitted the new spoon calipers with my friend. Not a direct fit as it says. You have to cut the back plate. Plus if you have standard brake lines. You have to bolt the caliper first then the brake line. If you have standard brake pads. The back one has to have the lugs shaved down. If you have the tools it's easy enough. Took around 3-4hours to fit and bleed. What a transformation though to the feel of the braking. I would recommend these to anyone thinking about it. But take note you will need something to cut and shave metal.
