The Land Cruiser Goes Undercover
The Toyota Land Cruiser 300 GR Sport is the most capable and best looking version of Toyota's flagship 4x4, and it's one the UK never had the chance to buy. Our latest personal import is a 2025 Land Cruiser 300 GR Sport straight from Japan, carrying an auction grade of 4.5 and fewer than 1,500 miles. For all intents and purposes, it's a new car.

Finished in black with blacked out trim throughout, this one has the look of something that escorts royalty for a living, or features in the latest Bond films. It's a big, luxury off-roader and in black it wears the stealth look extremely well!
Why Was the Land Cruiser 300 GR Sport Never Sold in the UK?
When Toyota launched the Land Cruiser 300 in 2021, the UK and most of Europe were left off the list. British buyers stayed with the outgoing Land Cruiser and were later offered the smaller Land Cruiser 250, which is a different vehicle on a different platform. The 300 Series, with its twin turbo V6 and full size chassis, remained a car for Japan, the Middle East and Australia.

That makes importing a Land Cruiser 300 from Japan the only realistic way to put one on a UK driveway. Demand in Japan has been strong enough that new orders were paused for long stretches, so a 2025 car with delivery mileage is a fantastic find.
Exterior
The GR Sport sets itself apart from the standard Land Cruiser 300 with its own front end. The bonnet bulges, the grille wears bold TOYOTA lettering and the surrounds are blacked out rather than chromed. The bumpers are cut away at the corners to improve approach and departure angles, so the styling does a useful job off road as well as looking the part.

Heavy duty side rails run along the sills and matching black roof bars complete the dark colourway. Paired with the dark wheels and GR badging, the overall effect is purposeful without being shouty, which is quite an achievement for something this size.

Interior
Inside, the GR Sport gets its own trim and sports seats with GR detailing, while keeping the comfort and equipment levels you'd expect from Toyota's flagship SUV. This example is a full seven seater, so it handles the school run and the long way round to the Highlands with equal ease. The interior of this GR is to the highest of quality with every possible option you could imagine. Cover the Toyota badge and your sat in a Lexus...

Performance
Power comes from the V35A 3.5 litre twin turbo V6, producing 409 bhp and 650 Nm of torque. It's paired with a 10 speed automatic gearbox that shifts smoothly and keeps the engine in its torque band, so the Land Cruiser 300 GR Sport moves with urgency despite being a 2.5 tonne, 7-seater 4x4.

Off Road Capability
The GR Sport is the most off road focused Land Cruiser 300 in the range. It was the first Toyota to use E-KDSS (Electronic Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System), which disconnects the anti roll bars to give extreme wheel articulation on rough ground, then reconnects them for a stable and controlled ride on the road.

It also gets triple locking differentials, with front, centre and rear locks. Most rivals stop at a centre and rear lock, so the front diff lock gives the GR Sport a clear advantage when traction runs out.

Why Import a Land Cruiser From Japan?
For UK buyers, importing a Toyota Land Cruiser from Japan opens up models and specs that were never available here. The Land Cruiser 300 and its GR Sport variant are the obvious examples, but Japan also offers a wider spread of trims and colours across older Land Cruiser generations.
- Access to the Land Cruiser 300 and GR Sport, which were never sold new in the UK
- Low mileage, well kept examples are common thanks to Japan's strict Shaken inspection system
- Japanese auction grading gives a clear indication of condition
- Our team physically inspects cars in Japan before we bid, and if a car isn't up to our standard we walk away
- A dedicated account manager handles sourcing, shipping, duty, VAT and UK registration
Once the car lands, our in house workshop, body shop and detailing team can prepare it before handover, so it arrives ready to use rather than ready for a to do list. You can see how the whole process works on our personal import service page.
