The GR86 Goes Green
Toyota has treated the GR86 to a gentleman's spec with the limited run Ridge Green Edition, and it is fast becoming the GR86 edition to have. We've now imported a handful of Ridge Greens from Japan for our personal import customers and we're pretty confident they are the only few in the country.
The Toyota GR86 has become a firm favourite among driving enthusiasts, and this latest iteration from Toyota's Gazoo Racing (GR) division adds a rare and stylish edge. Building on the success of the GT86, the GR86 Ridge Green Edition brings a fresh aesthetic along with subtle performance enhancements.
It joins the ranks of other limited edition GR86 variants including:

- Yuzu Edition
- 10th Anniversary Edition
How Rare Is the GR86 Ridge Green Edition?
With just 200 units produced for the Japanese Domestic Market, the Ridge Green Edition is incredibly rare, particularly in the UK. The GR86 already turns heads, but this edition takes it one step further.
Truth be told, we don't often see standard GR86s on British roads, let alone limited editions. Having brought a handful of Ridge Greens over, we're fairly sure the only examples in the UK have come through our doors. Limited numbers, a spec people actually want and hardly any cars outside Japan is usually a good recipe for strong values, which is why the Ridge Green is becoming the edition collectors and enthusiasts are asking us about.
Exterior
The deep green paintwork gives off Clubsport vibes, especially when paired with striking bronze alloy wheels, a spec often seen on GT Porsches. Already a handsome car, the GR86 looks even more purposeful with its sharp body lines, sporty grille and pronounced diffuser.
Red Brembo brake calipers peek through the wheels, adding contrast and intent to the stance. Controversially, I think the calipers need to be yellow...
An extended ducktail spoiler sharpens the silhouette, while gloss black accents on the front air vents and wheel arches highlight the Ridge Green's standout features.
Interior
A black and tan two tone interior gives the cabin an upmarket feel, while Ridge Green Edition embroidery on the door cards adds a bespoke touch.
As expected from a GR product, the cockpit is driver focused. A perfectly positioned shifter, well spaced pedals ideal for heel and toe and intuitive button placement offer maximum functionality with minimal distraction.
Performance
The GR86 is powered by the FA24 2.4 litre naturally aspirated boxer engine, a welcome step up from the 2.0 litre unit in the outgoing GT86. It produces around 232 bhp, delivering more low end torque while still rewarding drivers who enjoy the upper rev range.
The Ridge Green Edition comes with Sachs dampers as standard, tuned for better road feel and connection to the tarmac. Toyota has also refined the electric power steering and adjusted the engine torque control so throttle blips on downshifts feel more natural and responsive.
Why Import a GR86 From Japan?
For UK buyers, importing a Toyota GR86 from Japan is often the better value route and can work out comparatively cheaper than buying a UK car. Toyota only sold the GR86 in the UK for a short run with limited allocation, and with new cars no longer available here, used UK examples have held their prices well.
Japan is a different story. The GR86 has been on sale there for longer, in greater numbers and in more specs, so there is far more choice at sensible money. Through our personal import service you can also access Japan only models like the Ridge Green, Trueno and Yuzu Editions, which were never offered in the UK at all.
