Nissan Z 'Proto Spec' - 1 of 240

Nissan Z 'Proto Spec' - 1 of 240

Mike Gratton |

Guess what? We’ve imported what we believe to be the first Nissan Fairlady Z (RZ34) into the UK! Sourced in Japan for a Personal Import Customer, this is a ‘Proto Spec’ launch car, limited to just 240 examples. It’s finished in the jaw-dropping two-tone Ikazuchi Yellow TriCoat / Super Black, complemented by bronze 19-inch RAYS alloys, yellow calipers, and special interior touches, including yellow-stitched seats, trims, and an exclusive gear knob. It’s a real head-turner!This model is the latest in the long and iconic line of Z-Cars, a legacy that began with the beautiful 240Z in 1969, introducing the winning formula of a 2-door coupe with a 6-cylinder engine.

Here’s the full lineage of Z-Cars:

  • Gen 1: Datsun 240Z, 260Z, 280Z
  • Gen 2: Nissan Fairlady 280ZX (S130/Z30)
  • Gen 3: Nissan 300ZX (Z31, first model)
  • Gen 4: Nissan 300ZX (Z32, second model)
  • Gen 5: Nissan 350Z (Z33)
  • Gen 6: Nissan 370Z (Z34)

This 7th generation Z-Car, launched in 2022, has taken performance to the next level! Under the bonnet is Nissan’s twin-turbocharged 3.0L V6 (VR30DDTT), delivering 400 bhp and 350 lb-ft of torque. Buyers can choose between a six-speed manual with an Exedy clutch or a nine-speed automatic. The example we’ve brought to the UK is a six-speed manual, arguably the more desirable option. Manuals are becoming increasingly rare in new cars, and their availability should be celebrated! With a 0-60 mph time of 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph, it’s no slouch. There’s a distinct sense of analog driving, enhanced by its short wheelbase, which gives it a stocky, hunkered-down feel.Beyond its impressive performance, Nissan has absolutely nailed the retro styling! It’s unmistakably a Z-Car. The coupe silhouette is a clear homage to the 240Z and its other siblings, with the signature long bonnet and sloping roofline. The muscular yet classy design is accented by rear lights reminiscent of the 300ZX. Unique touches like the double-bubble roof crease and the window line, which has a hint of R35 GT-R influence, add further character.Inside, the cockpit is unmistakably driver-focused. You sit low to the ground with a clear view of the swooping bonnet, and the three dials nestled into the dashboard are a nostalgic nod to Z-Car heritage. When ordering a new Z, there are three trims available:

  • Sport: The entry-level model with smaller 18” wheels and no LSD.
  • Performance: Adds an LSD, upgraded brakes, forged 19” RAYS alloys, a rear lip spoiler and  front lip.
  • Proto Spec: This is the top-tier model, similar to the one we’ve imported here, as previously mentioned.

Unfortunately, the latest Z isn’t available for the UK or European markets, which is a shame because it’s a car that truly gets under your skin. Its old-school simplicity is exactly what petrolheads crave, and the latest Z continues the legacy of the iconic Z-Cars we all know and love.Fortunately, we can help. If you want one, you’ll need to import it—and that’s where our Personal Import Service comes in. We aim to bring more of these incredible machines to the UK for clients in 2025.
