The Toyota GR Yaris has already earned its reputation as a modern-day legend. Ever since its launch in late 2020, it has proven that if you build a car with rallying in its DNA, petrolheads will flock to it... The GR Yaris was designed for winning races, and the market response speaks for itself.
The GR Yaris Ogier Edition takes exclusivity to another level, with only 100 examples worldwide, it’s a slice of WRC history but what makes it so special?
Rarity
Toyota produced only 100 units to celebrate Sébastien Ogier’s WRC success, alongside another 100 commemorating Kalle Rovanperä. Numbers like that guarantee desirability, and for those lucky enough to own one, residuals could be promising.
The UK allocation remains something of a mystery, but forums suggest that only three cars made it over here. Whether they’re tucked away in collections or occasionally braving Britain’s roads, time will tell. If you do happen to spot the one proudly wearing the ‘GR SEB’ plate, you’ll know you’ve just seen something very special...
Another nice touch on the Ogier edition is the 'Morizo' signature on the windscreen, although it makes the thought of a cracked windscreen horrifying!
A Subtle French Tribute
While some limited editions lean heavily on loud styling, the Ogier Edition keeps things understated. Toyota chose to celebrate Ogier’s French heritage with quiet nods rather than bold statements.
Look closely and you’ll find tri-colour stitching on the steering wheel, small French flag accents on the alloys and front grille, and a WRC victory plaque mounted on the dash, each car individually numbered.
There’s also an Ogier Edition badge on the rear door, not present in these photos as it hadn't been reffitted at the time. These details don’t shout at you, but for those who know what they’re looking at, they’re the kind of touches that make this car feel personal.
Drive Modes Inspired by Champions
The Ogier Edition ditches the standard Gravel and Track modes in favour of two bespoke settings developed with the drivers themselves. In this case, Morizo Mode, named after Akio Toyoda’s own racing alter ego, pushes maximum power to all four wheels for uncompromising grip.
Seb Mode, on the other hand, dials things back towards the rear axle, sharpening turn-in and letting the car dance through corners with more control. These aren’t just gimmicks.
Stealth Looks with Motorsport Bite
Finished in matte stealth grey, the Ogier Edition looks more purposeful with the addition of a massive carbon fibre spoiler transforms the silhouette, making it look every bit the rally car for the road. It’s the kind of feature that fans wish Toyota had offered across the range, because it completes the package so well.
Behind the BBS alloys sit bright blue brake calipers, providing a sharp contrast against the grey bodywork. Toyota hasn’t officially disclosed whether other mechanical tweaks were made, but we reckon some weight saving has gone on as the car just feels more raw.
The Ultimate GR Yaris?
The standard Toyota GR Yaris is already one of the most exciting driver’s cars of its generation. The Ogier Edition builds on that foundation with scarcity, subtle design cues, and driving modes honed by champions. It’s both a tribute to Sébastien Ogier’s rallying legacy and a clear signal of Toyota’s commitment to building enthusiast-focused cars.
Given the choice, I'm unsure if I'd play it cool with the understated Ogier Edition, or go full rally tribute with the more flamboyant Rovanperä Edition. Either way, both will go down as icons and the Ogier Edition may just be the one collectors fight hardest to secure.
