The Subaru R205 is a special edition based on the WRX STI, developed by STI and limited to just 400 units. Designed with a focus on road performance, the R205 was developed using technology honed through STI’s participation in the Nürburgring 24-hour Race. The result is a carefully engineered car that balances power, control, and responsiveness for maximum feedback.
The ‘R’ in R205 stands for ‘Road’, representing its purpose as a high-performance street car. Based on the WRX STI, it features a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine producing 320PS and 432Nm of torque, powered by a ball-bearing twin-scroll turbo. This setup delivers strong acceleration and consistent power delivery. The surge from the twin-scroll turbo is distinctive, making acceleration feel remarkably smooth and progressive.
The R205 came equipped with uprated Brembo discs and calipers on all four wheels, providing reliable stopping power. Whether navigating tight corners or driving at higher speeds, the brakes offer consistent and confident stopping power.
STI focused on handling dynamics by installing a Flexible Draw Stiffener, STI-tuned dampers and springs, and a Flexible Tower Bar. These enhancements improve chassis balance, making the car more responsive to steering inputs and allowing for precise cornering. Aerodynamic features like STI front and rear under spoilers contribute to high-speed stability while giving the R205 a distinctive, performance-oriented appearance.
