Getting there took three MAF housings, seven velocity stacks, a run of filters, flow-bench work, sixteen material and shielding samples and sixty-five dyno pulls. The result is the Formula Intake, and we stock it here at Torque-GT.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eHow much power does it make?\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePower is the first question, so start there. Hybrid Racing ran three comparisons on the same 2019 FK8, ordered here from the biggest gain to the most representative.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eBolt-on only, factory ECU untouched\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe first test kept the standard airbox and an untouched OEM Honda ECU. Fitting the Formula 76mm Street, with nothing else changed, took power from 270.2 to 300.2 wheel horsepower. No check engine light, no knock correction anywhere in the log. A 30 wheel horsepower gain from a straight swap is a big number on a tightly managed turbo car, where a bolt-on intake usually does little. Some of that comes from airflow and some from the new MAF signal shifting the ECU's fuelling and load maths. This is the closest apples-for-apples comparison you'll find, and the figure to expect on a tuned FK8. If your car is on FlashPro, load the Formula MAF scaling so the ECU reads the new intake path.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch4\u003e89mm Race\u003c\/h4\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe 89mm Race suits higher-power builds that are running into the factory MAF sensor's limit with the 76mm Street, or cars being built around a bigger turbo. You can tune it on a lightly modified FK8, though it gives more sensor range than that car needs. Past about 400 wheel horsepower, ask your tuner to watch MAF voltage and let the datalog make the call, not the power figure on its own. On Hybrid Racing's 433.5 wheel horsepower shop FK8, the 76mm Street signal hit 4.96 volts and stopped climbing near the top of the pull. The 89mm Race kept that same sensor inside its range. The 89mm Race inlet needs Hondata FlashPro, or an equivalent that can apply the matching MAF calibration.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eMore sound, easier servicing\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe factory airbox muffles almost everything. The Formula opens it up: a deeper induction note as the engine loads, crisper spool on throttle, and a sharper release from the recirculating valve as you lift. The car feels more alive when you push it, then settles down at a steady cruise.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eRelease two OEM-style quick-release clips and one clamp to inspect, service or swap the filter, with no need to pull the airbox from the car. The red oiled-cotton filter washes and reuses.
