How It Works

Every time the air/fuel mixture in a cylinder ignites, it creates a powerful torque spike. This spike twists the crankshaft forward and then causes it to rebound — a process known as torsional vibration. When these vibrations synchronize with the crankshaft’s natural frequency, they create destructive harmonic forces that can damage bearings and the crankshaft itself. A Fluidampr damper absorbs and controls these vibrations to prevent costly damage.

Why Upgrade from a Stock Damper?

Critical harmonic vibrations occur multiple times throughout an engine’s RPM range. Stock rubber or elastomer dampers are tuned to absorb vibrations at a single frequency — usually that of a factory engine. When you upgrade engine components like pistons, rods, or the crankshaft, the natural frequency changes, and the stock damper can no longer provide proper protection.

Additionally, rubber dampers generate heat during operation but dissipate it poorly. Over time, heat and environmental exposure cause the rubber to crack and lose its elasticity.
