No, it’s not JDM, but this Mercedes SLS AMG is too beautiful to ignore! Recently, this stunning example passed through Torque GT’s bodyshop and detailing departments, and given its presence, we couldn’t resist shouting about it.
Underbody Restoration & Dry Ice Treatment
The SLS came in for a mild underbody restoration, including our dry ice blasting service. Becoming increasingly popular, dry ice blasting is one of the safest and most effective ways to clean a vehicle’s underside. It removes dirt, flaking coatings, and grime without using water or harsh chemicals, making it ideal for sensitive or high-value vehicles.
Before starting, our team carried out a detailed inspection with the owner, discussing every aspect of the work while the car was on the ramp. This transparency ensures a clear understanding of what we set out to achieve and allows the owner to see exactly what’s being undertaken.
Preparation involved removing the arch liners to gain access to the chassis and subframe. Unlike steam cleaning, dry ice blasting doesn’t risk damaging electronics or trapping moisture.
With adjustable pressure ranging from 1 to 9 bar, it provides complete control, effectively decontaminating suspension and subframe components while protecting plastics, aluminium, and existing coatings.
Thanks to its aluminium platform, this SLS was already in great condition. The dry ice treatment simply brought it back to showroom standard, restoring its clean, fresh-from-the-factory appearance.
Detailing & Ceramic Coating
Once the underbody work was complete, the SLS moved into our detailing studio for further treatment. Even though the paintwork was already in excellent condition, our team carried out a full valet covering the interior, engine bay, and exterior. The paint was carefully decontaminated, machine polished, and given a light paint correction to refine the finish.
To ensure lasting protection, we applied Titan’s Zeus 5-year ceramic coating. This premium ceramic coating enhances depth and gloss while protecting against road salt, UV exposure, and harsh UK weather conditions. The coating forms a dense, erosion-resistant HyperQuartz® ElastoTek® Membrane, strengthened by Dark Matter Technology®. This elastomer-based membrane is flexible and self-healing, maintaining its integrity and gloss under various conditions.
The result is a deep, rich Daytona Blue finish that looks incredible and stays that way for years to come.
