Auction Report: R34 GTR Special

After a short stop gap the Japanese car auctions are well and truly back in full swing! This week sees an abundance of awesome Japanese metal and significantly a noticeable spike in R34 GTRs being offered. Are Japanese owners starting to cash in or is it simply a matter of coincidence? Either way we decided to dedicate this auction report to the hugely sought after Japanese performance icon that is the Nissan Skyline R34 GTR. What better way to gets things rolling than with a V-spec II NUR…

Nissan Skyline R34 GTR V-spec II NUR

With more admirers than Scarlet Johansson, NURs are widely considered the most desirable of GTR models bar the Z-tune. This limited edition run boasts a whole host of upgrades over the standard GTR such as an improved RB26 based on the N1 racing engine and larger steel internal turbos. Although the V-spec II NUR (718) was made more abundant than the M-spec NUR (285) its seen as a more focused car from the factory. This example will be sure to attract interest being a grade 4.5 with only 54,325kms and based on our experience we expect a hammer price of 10+ mill JPY. Check back next week for a full translation and auction result…

Nissan Skyline R34 GTR V-spec II NUR (R1)

If you’re yet to see this particular NUR come up in your news feed there’s a high chance you’ve been hiding under a rock. Without question a special model this R1 engined BNR34 has literally seen more money thrown at it than a banker’s bonus. Those familiar with this upgrade maybe aware that only a small number of owners will have treated their GTRs to this infamous Omori factory upgrade and consequently awarded the R1 badge. Several appearances since its first week at auction it continues to reach 13+ mill JPY and still not sell. Is this the week the owner drops his reserve or someone decides to bid just that little bit more? Check back next week for full details…

Nissan Skyline R34 GTR V-spec

Another high graded R34 GTR and judging by the current market most probably a price tag to suit. With a documented speedo change and Shaken until May 2018 this V-spec also has the right look for mass appeal. Black Pearl isn’t as sought after as Bayside blue but there’s no denying the serious presence of a GTR in GV1. Should this example be as high quality as the auction sheet suggests we’d anticipate a hammer of around 5 mill JPY. We’ll share our findings in our next auction report…

Nissan Skyline R34 GTR V-spec (Midnight Purple III)

Another BNR34 with immense street presence some will perhaps feel this particular example is a step too far. With more flip in the paint than Midnight purple II, this facelift Midnight Purple III GTR will likely divide opinion. More obvious is the R grading this one’s been given as this will undoubtedly put more potential buyers. To know the true extent of the accident repair will be down to our inspection in Japan but as a rule they’re often well short of the quality we’d want for our customers…

Nissan Skyline R34 GTR V-spec

Perhaps less of an issue for those opting for the drag strip this R grade V-spec will quite possibly come in a fair amount under many R34 GTRs we’ve seen of late. Assuming it is in fact set up for straight line racing and with zero Shaken left it will almost certainly attract less buyers. We’re estimating a hammer price of under 4 mill JPY but much like the GTR above much will depend on the extent and quality of repair…

Nissan Skyline R34 GTR

Almost complete opposite end of the spectrum to the 2 examples above this near factory original GTR in highly desirable Bayside Blue boasts super low mileage and a 4.5B grading. Although a non V-spec with less than 2 months Shaken remaining we still see it fetching over 5 mill JPY if its as tidy as the auction sheet suggests. Full details next week…

Nissan Skyline R34 GTR V-spec

Another high graded R34 GTR to grace the Japanese car auctions this week, this 4.5B V-spec in white (QM1) has almost a year’s worth of Shaken remaining and only 73,728kms from new. Although not the most sought after colour we still anticipate a hammer price of around 5.5 mill JPY based on recent data. We’ll report back with a full translation and hammer next week…

Nissan Skyline R34 GTR

Another non V-spec GTR with no shaken remaining should make the hammer price a little less eye watering than most. Although its received a speedo change at some point this has been documented. And with only 61,067kms showing this could be a decent buy for someone. Obviously much will depend on the quality once inspected by our team but we anticipate a hammer price of around 5 mill JPY…
